One of only two churches dedicated to the 5th century St Hychan, this ancient single chamber church is mentioned in the Norwich Taxation of 1254.

It was extensively restored in 1878 but has a window dating back to 1626, a reading desk from 1730 and a reredos from 1846. Hidden away deep in the countryside between Llanynys and Llangynhafal, this beautiful little church is a hidden treasure speaking of God's peace, constancy and changelessness in the midst of a busy world.

You may arrange to visit the church by contacting the Rector, Reverend Huw Buttler: 01824 704160

From Ruthin, take the A494 Mold road to Llanbedr and continue to Llanbedr village. Turn left at the church on to the B5429 following the signpost Llandyrnog and continue on the  B5429 for about three miles and the church is on your left at a road junction, The church is somewhat hidden in an avenue of trees.

An infrequent bus service passes the church.  Another way is to use the more frequent Ruthin – Rhyl bus route to Rhewl and walk the three miles to Llanychan. From Rhewl turn into Station Road and continue one mile and then left at the signpost Llanychan, from there it is about two miles.  Details of bus times can be found on the Traveline Cymru website.
