Celebrating Marriage

Sunday 12th February

  • What do you think of marriage?
  • Are you happily married and ready to celebrate the fact?
  • Are you looking for an excuse to return to the church and town where your married life began?
  • Are you at that stage in your relationship where you and your partner may be starting to think about what marriage is all about and what it might be like to be married in church?

If you’ve answered ‘YES’ to any of the above then

BAPTISMS AT ST MWROG'S

Baptism is the first step in our journey of following Jesus -and we’d like to continue to be a part of it!

Llanfwrog Church is situated on the top of a hill on the western edge of the market town of Ruthin. It still retains a distinct rural atmosphere and there are extensive views of the Vale of Clwyd and the mountains of the Clwydian range from the churchyard.

Christian worship has taken place on this site since the 6th century, when Mwrog (a little known Celtic saint) first proclaimed the Gospel in this part of the world. parts of the present church tae from the 13th century. The building has been restored many times in its long history, the latest restoration being in 1999, when the church was made more 'user friendly' for the new century.

Llanfwrog is a small and friendly church and its worship is in an informal style and the singing is led by a small choir, who occasionally sing their own choral items. The style of music however makes it easy for everyone to join in.

SUNDAY WORSHIP AT LLANFWROG

8:00am - Eucharist  on 1st Sunday each month

This is a quiet service without music, lasting about half an hour in the peace of the early morning. It is an ideal start to the day giving time and space to pray.

11:00am - Eucharist (2nd & 4th  Sundays)

11:00am - Morning Prayer (1st Sunday)

11:00am - Informal Worship (3rd Sunday)

This is the main Sunday worship with hymns and songs when families are encouraged to worship together. See Service Times on the right for more details.

On Certain Sundays there are themed family services. After the worship we stay for a cup of coffee and a chat and there is a growing fellowship in the church. We are a fair trade parish and the coffee and tea served is fair trade.

6:00pm - Evening Prayer in Welsh

Held on the second Sunday of the month

WEEKDAY WORSHIP

The Eucharist (bi-lingual) takes place every Thursday morning at 10:00am. This service lasts half an hour and gives time for quiet prayer. Occasionally other weekday services are held.

We are about 1 mile from the centre of the town of Ruthin. Ruthin is at the junction of the A494 and A525 main roads. From the Square in Ruthin proceed down Clwyd street and turn left into Mwrog Street after crossing the bridge. Continue to the mini roundabout, go straight on and the church is facing you at the top of the hill.

The bus route passing Llanfwrog Church is infrequent and it is best to get off the Rhyl – Ruthin bus at the bottom of Mwrog Street and walk the half mile to the church.  Details of bus times can be found on the Traveline Cymru website.

PRAYER AND BIBLE STUDY GROUPS

Prayer and Bible Study Groups take place jointly with other parishes in the Deanery and ecumenically with other churches in Ruthin. Please send an e-mail to the Rector at sevans@dyffrynclwyd.org.uk for information.
