PENTECOST / WHITSUNDAY

May 11th

This is the birthday of the Church. The day when we celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  Please see the diary pages of the parishes for details of services on Whitsunday.

DEANERY CONFERENCE

The next Deanery Conference will be at St.Peter's Parish Room, Ruthin on Monday June 9th at 7.30pm

DEANERY PILGRIMAGE

On Sunday 15th June, we invite you to join us on the Deanery Summer Pilgrimage.   We shall all make our way to St.Asaph Cathedral by 1pm. where we shall eat our sasndwiches (hopefully on the lawn if the weather is fine)  Following a short time of prayer we will make our way along the A55 to the Island of Anglesey.  (If there are sufficient numbers there will be a coach, otherwise we shall take our own cars).

Our first call on the island will be the tiny church of Llanysilio situated on a little island in the Menai Strait, connected to Anglesey by a causeway.  Next we shall make our way along the scenic road alonside the Menai Strait through Beaumaris and on to Penmon where we shall visit the Priory Church, and the holy well. There will be a time of worship in the Priory Church.  There will be time to go to Penmon Point, a most peaceful place with spectacular views of the mountains of Snowdonia and the coast. The only sounds are the sea, the seabirds and the bell of the lighthouse.

If you would like to go, please notify any of the deanery clergy or send e-mail to jbd@dyffrynclwyd.org.uk

This site is about the churches and parishes in the Deanery of Dyffryn Clwyd in the Diocese of St. Asaph in North Wales, which is one of the six diocese of the Church in Wales. The Deanery forms a rural, mainly agricultural area centred on the market town of Ruthin. The thirteen parishes are served by three priests, one deacon and four readers, assisted by retired clerics.

The parishes of the deanery have worked together for a number of years and shared worship takes place. The clerics meet every Monday morning for prayer and also regular chapter meetings. The Deanery Conference meets four times a year and is taking an increasing role in co-ordinating resources from all the parishes and planning worship and events for the deanery as a whole and looking at planning for the future.

Within the Deanery there is a variety of styles of worship in English and in Welsh. These range from traditional Anglican worship to informal and modern worship. We hope you will find this website helpful and informative and that you will visit our churches to worship with us. Whichever church you visit you can be assured of a warm welcome.

To search our site for a specific area of interest, please click on the search folder on the left hand side. You will be taken to our search page where you will have full access to all the site's search facilities.

If you are tied for time and want to find specific information within the site, please use the search facility and use keywords or phrases to find the page and information you are looking for.

On this site you will find lots of information about all the churches in our deanery. There are details of the times of church services and other events in churches such as concerts. If you are looking to contact any of the churches to arrange baptisms, weddings or funerals or if you simply want to contact us to ask what the Church is about then you can contact us through this site.

The site also has information about how the parishes are linked with their communities and how we link with the wider church and the wider world.

If your interest is church buildings, Dyffryn Clwyd is a good place to visit our many ancient churches most of which are medieval and as sites of worship have their origin in Celtic times.

Reverend John. B. Davies
