Clocaenog Church is situated in a peaceful rural location four miles to the west of the market town of Ruthin in the Vale of Clwyd in North Wales. There is thought to have been a church here in the 6th Century and parts of the present building date from the 13th Century. There is a peaceful atmosphere and the church is very welcoming.  Among the many special features at Clocaenog Church are a 17th century candelabra and an oak screen.

Clocaenog Church Hall for Hire

If you are looking for an intimate, accessible venue in a peaceful location, consider Clocaenog Church Hall.

Converted in 1933 from a barn, the community in the last few years has refurbished Clocaenog Church Hall into a modern meeting area for small and medium sized groups.  It is an ideal venue for any meeting in a quiet rural location, giving some peace away from a hectic life.

It is also ideal for quiet days for church groups.  We can arrange and lead a quiet day for you or you can do your own thing using both the hall and the nearby parish church.

Local volunteers from throughout the community run the Hall.

The Hall offers hirers:

  • An accessible, single storey venue

  • A peaceful and tranquil location, well away from main roads

  • A facility for up to 40 people

  • A fully-refurbished, re-decorated, re-wired and re-roofed meeting area

  • Modern seating and tables for events

  • Kitchen with some new equipment

  • A range of new crockery, cutlery and glass ware

  • Accessible lavatories

  • A small surfaced parking area

The final phase of the modernisation in 2007 should include a modular stage, hearing loop system and the continued refurbishment of the kitchen.

Hall hire rates for those outside the local community are:

£12 per session (morning, afternoon, or evening)

We are about 5 miles from the centre of the town of Ruthin. Ruthin is at the junction of the A494 and A525 main roads. From the Square in Ruthin proceed down Clwyd street and after you cross the bridge (signpost A494 Bala) turn left into Mwrog Street. Continue for about 100 yards to the mini roundabout then straight on following the B5105 (signposted Cerrigydrudion) road for about 4 miles until you get to the village of Clawddnewydd where you turn first right after passing the 30 mph sigh. Continue on this road for about a mile and you will be entering Clocaenog village. Continue for about 25 yards and you will pass a bus shelter on your left where you turn left up the hill and the church faces you at the top of the hill.

There is a bus service from Ruthin to Clocaenog but it is not frequent. Details of bus times can be found on the Traveline Cymru website.

Events and functions are held at various times. Please send e-mail to the Priest in Charge at rcarter@dyffrynclwyd.org.uk for information.
